LOVE IN ACTION
January 10th to February 10th
An at-home community service opportunity for ages 10 and up!

Help spread some LOVE right from your very own home! Create uplifting Valentine's Cards for people in our community that could use a little extra LOVE!. Cards will be distributed to senior citizens and homeless families on Valentine's Day. Completed cards must be dropped off to the Franklin Square Library (please ask for Daphne) no later than February 10th. Ages 10 and up are welcome to participate. Registration required.

COMING UP ROSIES: SERVIN' UP SMILES (Ages 12 & up)

Join Howie’s Heart for a community service event to support non-profit organization, Coming Up Rosies. This event is designed to support their mission in restoring confidence, happiness and pride to anyone struggling with low self-esteem during their medical journey, especially bald children. Learn about Alopecia and participate in a Q&A with Rosie Quinn, Co-Founder of non-profit organization, Coming Up Rosies. We will be creating Smile Kits for patients in local hospitals who are struggling with low self-esteem during their medical journey, especially bald children. Registration required.

Join Howie's Heart, The Girl Scouts of West Hempstead and Franklin Square & the Franklin Square Library for a community service event. Create uplifting Valentine's Cards for people in our community that could use a little extra LOVE!. Cards will be distributed to senior citizens, veterans and homeless families on Valentine's Day. All ages and families welcome. Drop-ins welcome, too! Volunteers also have the option of createing cards art home and dropping them off to us during this event.

HOWIE'S HEART ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

This has been an incredible year of helping others and spreading kindness! Let's celebrate and continue what we have started! Join us for a special evening celebrating kindness, community & compassion. Participate in kindness activities, celebrate members of our community and the impact they have made and help fellow Long Islanders in need, by donating to our diaper drive. Participants will each be given one FREE red heart balloon. In Howie's Honor, we ask that you take this balloon and give it to someone else as a random act of kindness. Balloons will only be available while supplies last and will be reserved on a first come, first served basis with registration. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome! Registration required.

BEAUTIFUL ME: A Self-Esteem Workshop
for Girls ages 10-12

In partnership with the Hance Family Foundation, Howie's Heart will help young girls explore what makes them beautiful and how their inner beauty can help to leave a legacy of love in our world. A service activity will also be incorporated in this workshop series. For girls, ages 10-12. Registration required.

LOVE FOR OUR ELDERS

Let's fight social isolation and loneliness with love on National Letter to An Elder Day. Join us as we gather to write letters to specific senior citizens, who have been identified by the Love For Our Elders organization, as needing some extra love and support. Ages 12 and up. Registration required.

Join Howie’s Heart for a special service event co-hosted by Adriana, one of our incredible teen volunteers! This event will benefit the Canine Companion Program of Long Island. Together we will learn all about how Canine Companions help veterans and people with disabilities. We will work together to create dog pulls for these incredible service dogs to use in their work and play. An added bonus... service-dogs-in-training will be there to play and cuddle with!

STARS OF HOPE WITH SAVANNAH
TUESDAY

Help survivors of mass violence and natural disasters through a model of community-centered healing. Create a hand painted star for the Stars Of Hope program and help lift survivors up in their darkest moments. Participants will also be painting rocks to help a local girl scout troop create a beautiful rock garden to help support and promote outdoor learning at Washington Street Elementary School in Franklin Square. Ages 13 & up

Join us as we "set up shop" and raise money for our non-profit organization. All proceeds will help Howie's Heart plan future community service events and kindness initiatives in our community. All are encouraged to sign up for a shift at our hot cocoa stand and/or bake items for our sale. Help us continue to help others in need!
